Old growth pines
  that would have
  been harvested
  around the turn
  of the century in
  the Rainy River
  area.  

  In the 1950's 
  Leland Gosselin
  and I picked slabs
  from the river
  bottom from this
  size of tree. These
  were slabs sawn
  before the use of 
  edger saws.
  We could saw 2 or
  3  "2x6's" from one
  slab.
