William was born 2 July 1837 right at the beginning of the registration of birth act but I can find no entry for William under Longhurst or Hogsden 'as he was known for the first five years' but in the 1871 census he is acknowledged as William Longhurst's son. I have not found a marriage yet either but he did marry Isabella Miller and they had two children in Leatherhead and the rest in Sutton. William went to the farm school and became a gardener he died in 1900 when he as 63 years old of a wasting disease.
