Sam Gunderson, Retired Engineer, Died Saturday

     Death came to Mr. Samuel Karlute Gunderson of Rainy River on Saturday, Feb. 26 while a patient at the St Boniface Hospital. Mr. Gunderson was 70 years of age. He died after a short illness.

     Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 2 at 2.30 from the St. James Anglican Church with Rev. J. P. Milner officiating. Burial was made in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Fawcett’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements

     Born in Oslo, Norway Mr. Gunderson moved to the United States in 1893 spending most of his time in Minnesota and North Dakota. He married in 1910 at Warroad, Minn. In 19l6 he came the Rainy River district, making his permanent home here. His wife predeceased him in December of 1944. Mr. Gunderson was employed as an engineer by the C.N.R. for many years and returned in October of 1944.

     Surviving his loss are four sons Adolph, Carl and Darryl of Rainy River and Wayne of Winnipeg; five daughters, Mrs. L. Klair of
Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. G. Lewis and Mrs. Whitney and Evelyn of Winnipeg and Roseanne of Rainy River.¹
