"PAINFUL ACCIDENT.--Old Mrs. Lansfield, who lives in Verulam about two miles from Fenelon Falls, and who has been partially blind for some years, met with a sad accident on the evening Thursday, the 13th inst. In stooping down she struck her right eye with such force against a projecting knob on the back of a chair that the eyeball was broken and part of the contents ran out, while blood flowed freely from laceratedviens in the socket. She was brought to the Falls as soon as possible and placed under the care of Dr. Wilson, who did all he could to relieve her sufferings and prevent the total loss of the eye, from which, it is almost needless to add, the sight has gone forever."

Thomas Scott and Mrs. Thomas Scott, witness of death. ? O'Leary. Mary is buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Verulam Township, Victoria County, Ontario. She is in the same plot as her son Edward Lansfield and his wife Mary Ann Hartnett, the inscribtion reads: Mary Cook wife of Thomas Lansfield died Aug. 30, 1900 aged 84 years.1,6
