Mrs. Thos. Houston Dies In 83rd Year 1 Dec. 1961 (handwritten)

PAISLEY — After an illness of about four months. Mrs. Thomas Houston, the former Theresa McAfee died in Chesley and District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

Born in Greenock township near Paisley 82 years ago, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Isabelle Arnold McAfee. After attending school, she operated two dressmaking shops, one in Pinkerton and one in Glamis. She spent two days in each shop each week, traveling between home and the shops on horseback.

In 1902 she was married and spent the remainder of her life on two farms on the 14th Con. Greenock township. Mr Houston predeceased her tn 1935 and Mrs. Houston remained on the farm now occupied by their son Wilfred.

Mrs. Houston was a member of Pinkerton United Church and active in the Women s organizations.

She is survived by two daughters, Christena, Mrs. Nelson C. Howe of Bruce township; Mamie, Mrs. Archie Docherty of Wawa; four sons. Hugh of Ottawa, Wilfred of Greenock township, Harvey, of Lucknow and John, of Owen Sound: two sisters, Bertha, Mrs. Ernest Seering of Miami, Fla., Phoebe, Mrs. Charles Fitzsimmons of Pinkerton and one brother Edgar, Toronto.

Mrs. Houston was predeceased by a daughter Jessie.
