DALE ESOPENKO Dale Eso Esopenko passed suddenly on January 9th, 2009 in the company of his closest friends. Left to mourn him are: his daughter Bailey, who is the light of his life, and her mother Kim. His mother Irma, his brother Wayne, JH, Bea and his aunt Sandi, along with numerous other relatives and friends. Dale was raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where at a very early age he found his love for golf. As a young man he was also involved in many other hobbies such as hockey, and being a JR reporter which took him to San Diego. There he met Mr. Norrie West who became a mentor, and sparked his interest in supporting and encouraging the development of junior golf. Golf became Dale's profession which lead to him becoming the youngest man to be named president of the Manitoba Golf Association. He was also very involved with many tournaments, fundraisers, and pro ams where he enjoyed playing with his friends and colleagues Dale became the youngest head pro at the Assiniboine Golf Course where he remained for over thirty years. He loved planning his famous Dale Esopenko Golf Holidays where he met and travelled with many people that soon became close friends. During his years at the club he was supported and loved by far too many people to mention. Everyone that he met instantly fell in love with his genuine and outgoing personality. Although the club was his home away from home he also had a passion for fishing. He shared this passion with one of his closest friends Stu McKay. If you couldn't find Dale at the course you knew he would be out on The Red with his fishin' pal Stu. Dale struggled with his health for many years, but no matter what he always had the help and support of his friends and family. A special thank you to those who were at the hospital to support his daughter during this difficult time. Along with a very special thanks to Gord Tumilson who was always there for Dale and his family. You are on the wings of the angels now Dale, may you find some comfort there. The funeral service will be held at the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, on Wednesday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. Chapel Lawn 885-9715.2

Robert Hamilton Roll C-4651 Perth Military records lists:
page 18: Second Half of Film:
25 Dec. 1822: Robert Hamilton Emigrant, Bathurst Twp., Cons. 10, NE 1/2 lot 3, 100 ac. came 16 Feb. 1820.
In a letter to Peter Robinson, dated 24 Oct. 1824, a Major G. Hillier of Gov. House, York, U.C. tells Peter of riots that took place amoung the Perth settler that year. Four persons were sentenced to 2 months imprisonment and a fine of 10 L each for thier part. The Judge, W. Justice Campbell claims that the action should restore tranquillity between the new settlers and the old established settlers. The real cause was no given, but it implies that the people involved were poor Irish settlers vs richer old military settlers.
The Plantation of Ulster in the beginning of the seventeenth century, by English and Scottish settlers under government direction, did not include the counties of Antrim and Down. Down had been planted somewhat earlier by the private enterprise of two hard-headed Scots, Montgomery and Hamilton; and the McDonnells of Antrim, though Catholics themselves, had no scruples about importing Scottish Presbyterians to develop their lands. Consequently, by the middle of the seventeenth century there was a considerable Scottish population in the north-east corner of Ulster. This continued to be augmented by a stream of religious refugees from Scotland, Presbyterian extremists for the most part who, for one reason or another, found themselves subjected in their own country to disciplinary measures which they were anxious to avoid. Covenanters, Burghers, Anti-burghers, Seceders – people who did not understand the meaning of compromise – sailed from the coasts of Cantyre and Ayr to the harbours of Antrim, the route from time immemorial of a two-way traffic between shores that are seldom out of sight. [It is said that 50,000 Scots came to Ulster in the years following 1690. (9)] Here, in the Antrim hinterland they settled, pursuing their independent courses unmolested. Through time some became integrated in the general Presbyterian community, others maintained their separateness with the tenacity of the persecuted, and all of them acted as a stimulus to an independence of mind that already existed.
