ROBERT J. MCAFEE DIES AT MARKDALE 1950 (handwritten)

Markdale, Sept. 11 - Robert John McAfee, a prominent district farmer for many years and a life long resident of Euphrasia Township, passed away at the, Centre Grey General Hospital on Saturday night. The late Mr. McAfee was in his 67th year. He had been a hospital patient for a week and had previously spent a week in the Owen Sound G. and M. Hospital. His health had been failing for some months.

He was born on the family farm on the 7th line of Euphrasia Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs Thomas McAfee, pioneer settlers in the area, He was married in June 1915, to the former Pearl Breadner, who survives to mourn his loss.

He leaves four daughters, Audrey, Mrs. William Rathbone of Toronto; Norma, Mrs. Alan Hardman of Woodford; and Miss Betty and Miss Iola McAfee at home. Another daughter, Doris, predeceased her father three years ago.

Also surviving are three sisters, Gertrude, Mrs. Fred Smith of Markdale; Miss Nancy McAfee of Meaford; Mary, Mrs. Edward Knott of Alberta, and two brothers, Thomas of British Columbia and Samuel of Markdale. The 1ate Mr. McAfee was a member of New England United Church and served as secretary-treasurer of the church board.
