#2: Well Known Nurse, Miss Ida McAfee Dies At Chelsley

PAISLEY — Miss Ida McAfee, a former assistant superintendent of nursing at Toronto's Western Hospital died Friday at the Chesley District Memorial Hospital.

A daughter of the late Hugh and Isabella McAfee, she was born in this district and attended Marva school and later the Paisley Continuation School.

Miss McAfee took her nurses training at the West General Hospital, Rochester, where she later became nursing superintendent. She went to Western Hospital, Toronto, when her mother was there as a patient. She returned to the United States seven years later and worked at several hospitals in different cities.

Miss McAfee later made her home at Rochester and did private nursing. She retired three years ago and spent considerable time at her cottage at Port Elgin. She came to the Paisley area recently and entered Chesley hospital when she became ill.
Surviving are three sisters, Theresa, Mrs. Tom Huston, Pinkerton; Bertha, Mrs. Ernest Seering, Miami; Phoebe, Mrs. Charles Fitzimmons, Pinkerton; and a brother, Edgar, Toronto.
