Thomas Waits Thomas Waits married an English girl, I don't remember her name. They lived just east of Cookstown. They lived on highway 89 but back then we called it the 'Swamp Road'. This was due to the marsh you had to pass through in the buggy with branches touching on both sides. It was an old corduroy road and you really bumped around when you went on it. I remember my Mom and Dad going to his funeral when I was about 9 or 10. They were quite poor and I remember my Dad going down and taking food to the family after he died. -

At extreme age of 92 Mrs Thomas Kell Died
     Was Innisfil Lady of extreme age, having passed the 92 year mark, Mrs Thomas Kell passed away on Monday Oct 14 1957 in Barrie. The former Miss Agnes Waites she was born on March 18 1865 at Creemore, a daughter of the late James Waites and her girlhood days were spent in Mulmur Twp prior to her marriage to Thomas Kell who died in 1929. The late Mrs Kell had lived in Innisfil after her marriage for five years, in Oro, five years, Nottawasaga eight years and for the past 57 years in Innisfil on line 12.
     For the greater part of her life she had been a faithful member of Holly United Church and also of the Ladies Aid of the church of which she had been president and was still active in the organization at 90 years of age.
     The funeral on Wednesday Oct 16 was from the Jennett Funeral home in Barrie, with the services there conducted by Rev. R.G. Trimble of Burton Ave United Church in Alandale and also of Holly United Church.
Besides the family and connections and neighbours and friends here relatives & friends were in attendance from Chicago, Kingston, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Stayner, Cookstown, Bradford, Alliston, Churchill, Gilford, Beeton, Oro, Granton, Midhurst & Stroud.
     Lovely flowers in remembrance were from relatives and friends and from Wards of Chicago from Holly United Church W A and from boys of the Dept of Highways.
     Interment was in Fennells Cemetery and pallbearers were all grandsons of Mrs Kell, Ivan, Elvin, Ross Kell Warren Garrett, Louis & Kenneth Glenn.
     In 1918 Frederick Kell, who was the third son of Mrs. Kell, was killed in action overseas in First World War. Her husband passed away in 1929 and the surviving members of the family are the nine children:
Mrs George Lewis (Martha) in Ottawa;
Mrs Percy Glenn (Jessie) of Stayner;
Mrs William Garrett (Minnie) in Kingston;
Mrs B F Brookman (Nellie) of Chicago, Ill;
Irene of Barrie,
Mrs Eva Grover also of Chicago, and
the sons William of Barrie; Walter in Hamilton;
and John of Stroud.
There are also 29 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
