Tom Walton died on 31 January 2004, at From Toronto Star, lost Internet site., , Prince Edward County, . On Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 11:35 a.m., softly slipped the lines from his earthly mooring, sailed into the arms of God, to be greeted on another shore by those whom he once knew.

Tom left a love of the water, sailing and love of life to his children, Sean and Ghislaine WALTON, Cindy and Steve MADACHY, Vanessa YORGASON, Aaron YORGASON, Tina and Todd LILLEY as well as grandchildren Richard YORGASON and Tara LILLEY.

Three more beautiful grandchildren were born in 2003 and with their births the greatest of all joys - Zachary WALTON, Emma MADACHY and Benjamin LILLEY. It is with the deepest of regret, that this gentle sailor, who would only be 63 this December 19th, has slipped away, before teaching his grandchildren about his love for the sea and sailing.

When Flora (née LONGHURST) and Tom made their wedding vows, ''love me forever, love my children always'' was the deepest of their commitments. Tom's love to both Flora and all their children was strong, unwavering and unconditional. Although moves from Port Credit to Toronto and then to Prince Edward County meant that many Friends were left behind, they were never far from his thoughts and often stories and memories were spoken aloud bringing laughter and joy.

Many will remember Tom on his wooden ketch Petrel II, or on his folkboat Whimsy which, of course, he has ready for launch. Some will remember Tom from Sears Audit Team or the Beaches Lion's Club. Some will remember him from ''A&B dock'' at Port Credit Marina or Aquatic Park Sailing Club. Most recently, Tom will be remembered for the enthusiasm he brought to his new business, Slides2CD. The service gave great renewed pleasure to his clients, and Tom was equally rewarded in return. Tom's wish was for the business to continue.

Love and forever-blessings are sent with Tom, from his brother Terry and Lucille WALTON and their girls, also from, sister Joyce and Ross WHARTON and family from Burlington.

Tom takes with him the treasured memories of finding his new-found and only cousins from his mother's side, Liz and John CRAVEN, Kathy and Marvin ORPEN of Powell River, and also Betsy, Tim and Audry FRENCH all of whom welcomed him with open arms and hearts last spring.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at the Demorestville United Church, County Rd. 14 in Prince Edward County, Demorestville, Ontario at 1:00 p.m. Following the service a light luncheon will be served.

Donations may be made to the charity of choice, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Prince Edward County Sailing School, Picton, Ontario. Cheques only please. Some summer evening, yet to be decided upon, a sail-past will be arranged in Picton Harbour and paper lanterns will be slipped portside in his memory.¹
