My grandmother, Isabel Lyons (McAfee) Faucett, didn't talk about her family except to say they were Scots-Irish and all died of the flu. From research in Philadelphia where she was born, we found the names of her parents (Robert and Eliza) and seven siblings, and learned that they all died of TB in the city. My grandmother, the youngest child, was the only one to survive and she lived to be 96. She was only 6 when her last parent died, and an older sister (Jane) became the head of the house (1880 census). It must have been traumatic for them.

Robert McAfee was the son of James McAfee and Jane Chestnut. He was born in 1832 and died in 1877. Robert
married Elizabeth Carswell of Kilmoyle. They had seven children. Information in "Families of Ballyrashane" by the Rev. T.H. Mullin, p.371.
According to Barbara Faucett Niemann, Robert is listed in the 1860 census for Kensington, Philadelphia, as 28 and a weaver.
In the 1870 census he was 39 and a carpet weaver with $300 personal property. He and his wife don't appear in the 1880 census. BFN said the family story was that most of the family died rather young from TB of the flu. The family members are buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in N. In 1900 they were living in Edan Twp., Walsh Co., ND not far from the home of Samuel Langstaff, Allan John's brother.

The Flynn website gives her name as Mary Katherine and says she was born 1864, not 1863.
